August 2020 Love Letters: Day 11
Hello, darling!
I hope your heart is light and you’re breathing easy. Today has been a powerful day filled with lots of moving conversation. One of my customers today, a college student and military veteran, encouraged me at the end of our call to be cautious but to not be afraid. I told him that my faith is the most important thing in my life, and that led to us having a quick conversation about physics, the law of thermodynamics, and entropy. It was such a blessing to have God use that sweet dear as a messenger of hope for me. I made sure he knew I recognized the divine in him speaking to the divine in me. He reminded me we are all children of God. God’s presence was felt so strongly by both of us, and we ended the call with at least a little more hope than we started with.
At least a little…that’s what I want you to get out of each and every letter I write, every encounter, every conversation, every hug. At least a little more goodness than you had before. Whether it’s faith, hope, love, joy, peace, a smile, a laugh…at least a little more than you had before. Times are challenging us now more than ever before, but you know what you are truly being challenged to do? LEVEL. UP.
You are a WARRIOR, in the game of spiritual warfare. We battle not against flesh and blood, but the invisible powers: our minds, our thoughts, our attitudes. You have conquered the day if you are reading this love letter, and if you are very blessed you’ll wake up tomorrow with another chance to, as one of my great loves reminds me constantly, ATTACK the day. (I see you, light and ocean!) You are a powerful warrior at that, even if you don’t feel like it a whole lot. At least a little of you recognizes your power and your warrior-ness, because you are still here.
Another friend and I were having a conversation this evening and I used painting as a metaphor, since I’ve been doing that often lately. We were discussing the big picture and not being able to see the whole thing yet. I reminded him that we don’t need the whole picture, we just need to paint one stroke at a time. Eventually, something beautiful shows up on the canvas and it is at least a little greater than you ever imagined. Your life still has purpose, even if you are alone in your home and feeling isolated. What you do matters to other people in the world, even if you can’t be with them right now. Your life matters to ME, I love you, and there is nothing you could ever do that will make me stop.
My beloved, today I want to encourage you to have at least a little faith in that love. You know me. You love me, too, as greatly as I love you. I see you, and I am grateful for you. If you need me, I’m here. At least a little faith is all you need. Even a mustard seed is acceptable. 😉
As I told my darling customer on the phone earlier today, joe-un bam dae sae yo! (That’s have a good night in Korean spelled phonetically.) I love you, and I will write again tomorrow. There are adventures on the horizon that I am incredibly excited about, for all of us!
Love,
L Joy
