August 2020 Love Letters: Day 3
Good afternoon, love!
Today is a beautiful Monday. Smile and think of three things you are grateful for, right now. I’m grateful for the abundance of stellar music I can access at a moment’s notice (currently being serenaded by Alicia Keys via her NPR Tiny Desk show on YouTube), I’m grateful for the ability to connect with you anywhere you or I may be in the world, and I’m grateful for the creative spark that has been set aflame in me once again. I have not felt this much passion and zest since before I can remember, and it is an incredible feeling. You, my love, YOU are indeed part of the reason I’ve been feeling so inspired lately.
You are an absolutely divine work of art and creation. I see you, in all your glory, and it is simply MAJESTIC. Though you may not see it, I want you to know that I am doing my best to look at you through our Creator’s eyes. God is so very in love with you, in every possible way. You are stepping out in faith every day that you don’t give up, even if you may not call it that. We are stepping out in faith TOGETHER, even if there is physical distance between us. I am here, cheering you on, supporting you in your journey to make an impression on the Earth we walk on. You have already made such a difference, and I am incredibly proud of you for making it this far.
Since March, things have been very different for us here. You may be scared, full of dread, not knowing what the future holds; let me reassure you, my love, there are good things coming from all of this, even right now. Haven’t you felt and seen it, too? So many have decided to lift their voice and speak up for what’s right. So many people have dug in and gotten to WORK on fixing this mess the best we can. A spark has been lit within YOU, too, darling. How are you tending that tiny flame? How can we go about turning it into a bonfire that burns so hot all the outer layers melt away until you are pure, raw gold? Trust. Surrender. Find your faith and do what moves you. Dance, play, sing, create! Don’t let this turmoil outside you steal your joy. Great plans are in your future, you just have to find the faith to hold on until we make it there.
Hebrews 11:1 just so happens to be the verse on my calendar today, and it tells us this: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
What is helping you to have faith lately? What has been inspiring you? What silver linings have you discovered through all of this? Y’all know I’m a silver-linings type o’ lady, even and especially in the face of chaos and tragedy. I love you, and I believe in you. I believe in your ability to make it through wherever your journey here takes you or the obstacles put in your way. YOU CAN DO THIS. You ARE doing this, and you’re doing your best. I see you. I am hugging you. Now lift your head, straighten your crown, and boogie with me through this spectacular Monday.
